A vintage military wedding
I asked my beautiful bride Flip how she felt about her brand new husband heading off into deployment so soon after they got married. As an old soul myself, I absolutely adored everything about how she and Jamie styled their wedding, it took me straight back to the wartime romances I devoured in my late teens. Nostalgia a penalty and old-fashioned, homespun blues. DIVINE.
Although I am based as a Gloucestershire wedding photographer, my nifty little Nissan Juke wended its way Lincolnshire bout for this lovely couple!
Some words from Flip (lili) …
“Vintage style has been part of my life since I was in my early 20s so the wedding ending up with a vintage feel, I think that was by accident. It was more countryside, handmade and homegrown, so had a nostalgic feel.
I’ve always had an affinity with the forces, my great grandfather was an early member of the RFC and returned to serve in WW2, as a station commander in Cottesmore. Jamie is also a 3rd generation serviceman, so it’s important to both of us, especially at this time of year.
This year is particularly poignant as Jamie is being deployed to Cyprus in a few days until 2022, so I’ll be here, keeping the home fires burning.
I think it reinforces the importance of remembrance, of the generations of men and women who have been apart from those they love. I’m so proud of his service though, he’s my hero.”
